Soca Artist KMC Lands US Record Deal

I know its been a minute since u heard from me but have no fear I,m back and ready to deliver once again to my tlm family...

Soca star Ken Marlon Charles, better known as KMC, is bidding farewell to the Carnival. The composer, producer and performing artiste has signed a multi-million dollar deal with American record label, Universal Music.

After a career in the Carnival spanning two decades, KMC says he's moving to Los Angeles to record four albums. His jackpot with Universal had its origins in Sweden last year while he was performing in a club in Stockholm. He caught the eye of a music producer known as Red-One, who has also produced Lady Gaga, the number one pop star in the world.

It's an outlet KMC says he's been searching for, since he's long contemplated stepping out of Carnival. The man who helped KMC negotiate the deal is the founder of the now defunct Rituals recording label, Jean Michel Gilbert. He says KMC will first be marketed in the UK and Europe. After that, the sky is the limit.

He may be leaving T&T shores for the time being but the man who gave his followers 'Bashment to Carnival' vows to showcase the best of Trinidad and Tobago to the world.
